Photo tour description:

A photography tour starting in the ancient temple city of Hampi, Karnataka, a former capital of the region, until it’s destruction in 1565. The tour then heads south, through the Nrityagram Dance Village, home to a troupe of dancers practising the 2000 year old classical dance form, Odissi. From here it’s onto Mysore, with its magnificent Indo-Saracenic palace completed in 1912, giving a window into the lavish lifestyle of the Maharajas up until the mid 20th Century. From royal interiors, it’s onto the former hunting grounds of the Maharajas, for a safari in the nearby national park, with its small population of tigers, elephants, deer, bison, macaques, antelope and over 200 species of birds. We then head up into the Nilgiri hills, known for its tea estates and home to the Keystone Foundation, who support 135 local tribal communities in the region. It’s then south to Kochi, with its lively spice district, fishing port and iconic Chinese fishing nets, before ending with a classic Kettuvallam boat ride on the serene backwaters of Kerala.
