A 15 day tour starting in the ancient city of Hampi in Karnataka, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, until it was destroyed in 1565, by Deccan Sultanates. Moving south, through the Nrityagram Dance Village, home to a troupe of dancers practising a classical form of dance known as Odissi, which is over 2000 years old. From here we move onto Mysore, with magnificent palace completed in 1912 in Indo-Saracenic architectural style, with influences from Hindu, Mughal, gothic and neo-classical architecture, giving a window into the lavish lifestyle of the Maharajas up until the mid 20th Century. From the royal interiors we move onto the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Mysore for a safari in Bandipur National Park, which is made up of a primarily forested biosphere, with a small population of tigers and leopards, elephants, sambar and spotted deer, bison, macaques, langurs, antelope and over 200 different species of birds. From here we head up into the Nilgiri tea estates and visit the charity we will be supporting on this tour the Keystone Foundation. who support 135 tribal communities within the region. We then we head south west, to Kochi with its lively spice district, fishing port and iconic Chinese fishing nets, before ending with a Kettuvallam boat ride on the srene Keralan backwaters. Intro to digital photography
For those that do not currently photograph in semi-automatic mode, use RAW files and/or digitally process their photographs, your tour leader is happy to introduce you to photographing in aperture priority and digital processing using Lightroom software. Please note this is a entry level introduction, to give those new to photographing outside of full automatic mode, a flavour of what can be creatively achieved with user input. Depending on the number of requests, this is either carried out on a one to one basis or as part of a group and is fitted in around the itinerary in a practical format. For this tour we offer two levels of accommodation, a 1 - 3 Star Rate (budget to standard) and a 3 - 5 Star Rate (standard to premium). For each rate we aim to secure the best available accommodation within our budget and include local heritage hotels where ever possible.
