Tour Summary

A 15 day tour starting in the beautiful city of Udaipur known as both, the 'Venice of India' as it sits on a lake, and the 'White City' due to it's pristine white buildings. We then move on to the 'Blue City' of Jodhpur, where we visit the charming gift shop of the charity we are supporting on this tour, as well as the mighty Mehrangarh Fort and the indigo houses of the old town. From Jodhpur we enter the desert terrain of the Pushkar Camel Festival, where traders arrive with their prized camels and Marwari horses, unique to the region and distinguished by their endearing inward turning ears. Whilst in Pushkar, which is considered a holy city by Hindus, we will also visit Pushkar Lake, where Hindus perform cleansing rituals and prayers, particularly during this time of the year, when Diwali or the 'festival of light' is being held. From Pushkar we move onto the bustling Jaipur, known as the 'Pink City' with it's semi submerged Jal Mahal (water palace), impressive Amber Fort, Intricate pink stoned Hawa Mahal, fascinating astrological park and with life size instruments. We then journey to Ranthambore nature reserve for chance to spot a tiger in the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Jaipur. From Ranthambore it's onto the Taj Mahal for a sunrise capture of the iconic Taj Mahal, before transferring to one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, Varanasi, where hundreds of lit candles line the banks of the Ganges, for one night a year only. Very few Pushkar Fair tours include this event, so if you have ever wanted to visit Varanasi, this is the most memorable time to do it. Whilst in Varanasi, we also take both a sunset and sunrise boat ride, as well as visit Sarnath, a Buddhist pilgrimage site, said to be where Buddha gave his first sermon. The tour ends with a farewell dinner in Varanasi, before guests depart for their onward bound journeys the following day. For more detailed info click itinerary button below.
